Major Refurbishment for Black Watch .. or some good news from Fred Olsen

Fred Olsen's Black Watch has completed her recent dry dock in December 2009 and returns to service following some major refurbishment work.

The work included a major refurbishment of the ship’s public areas, including a new casual dining area, which has been created in the space where the Braemar Lounge and Garden Café were situated.

The transformed area is now the Braemar Garden, a casual dining area with seating for 120 persons, and replaces the Garden Café which seated 80 persons. One section of this newly created dining area is screened off, creating a 40 seat room that can be used for private dining. This new area has been completely refitted with new soft furnishings, a new bar, and buffet.

Other areas of the ship have also received new soft furnishings, including the Neptune Lounge, Pipers Bar, Glentanar Restaurant and the Observatory Lounge. In addition, many cabin bathrooms have been refitted.

On the technical side, the Black Watch cruise liner has also had her last three open lifeboats replaced by two covered boats.
This means that some previously restricted views from cabins will now be unobstructed views.

Queen Elizabeth takes to the sea

As we were all freezing yesterday in this heavy snow,  the Cunard Queen Elizabeth made her first movement onto water in the Italian Ship yard were she is being built.

In this time of recession, well the papers tell its still here the Cruising sector continues to increase capacity.
We will have to wait until October or so to see how she finally looks.

See this article in today's Daily Mail:  Queen Elizabeth 3 takes to the seas

Look forward to seeing this one as the year goes on.

Weather

Got up early this morning thinking it was time to go to work, how wrong a day off! But then saw the scene up my road! and it started me thinking of times away in the sunshine.

For those of you who don't know, its the Grand Canyon in July, what a difference to the weather we are having now and just look at the sunset!

Oh I wish I was there..........................
